Apple HealthKit — Privacy Notice
Effective date: January 2026 — applies to the Phoenix Health iOS app on iPhone and Apple Watch.
What this page is
When you tap “Sources” → “Phoenix Health” inside the Apple Health app on your iPhone, iOS opens this page. It explains exactly which health data Phoenix Health reads from Apple HealthKit, what we use it for, and how to revoke access at any time.
What we read
Phoenix Health requests read-onlyaccess to the following HealthKit data types. We never write to HealthKit, and we never request a category we don’t use. Apple intentionally does not tell apps which categories you allowed or denied — so we always respect your in-Health-app toggles even when you haven’t told us individually.
| Data type | How we use it |
|---|---|
| Heart rate (continuous and resting) | Cardiovascular health monitoring |
| Heart rate variability (HRV) | Recovery, stress and autonomic nervous system tracking |
| Steps | Daily activity trends, energy expenditure context |
| Active energy / total energy | Energy expenditure tracking |
| Distance walking / running | Activity volume tracking |
| Sleep analysis (in bed, asleep, REM, deep) | Recovery, fatigue and circadian rhythm tracking |
| Weight / body mass | Body composition and clinical care planning |
| Height | BMI calculation and reference ranges |
| Body fat percentage | Body composition assessment |
| Blood pressure (systolic & diastolic) | Cardiovascular risk assessment |
| Blood glucose | Metabolic health and diabetes monitoring |
| Oxygen saturation (SpO₂) | Respiratory health monitoring |
| Respiratory rate | Respiratory health monitoring |
| Body temperature | Illness and ovulation tracking when relevant |
| VO₂ max | Cardiorespiratory fitness assessment |
| Mindful minutes | Stress and recovery context |
| Workouts (type, duration, energy) | Exercise volume, intensity and pattern analysis |
How the data is used
- To populate your personal health dashboard inside the Phoenix Health app.
- To give your treating practitioners full context for assessments and care plans.
- To compute trends, biological-age estimates, and reference-range alerts.
- To audit your records (every read is logged with your account ID).
What we never do
- We never sell health data.
- We never share health data with advertisers or use it for marketing.
- We never use HealthKit data for AI model training without your explicit, written consent.
- We never write or modify data in your HealthKit store.
- We never use HealthKit data for third-party advertising or to determine eligibility for credit, employment, or insurance — Apple’s HealthKit terms strictly forbid this and so do we.
Storage and security
Data read from HealthKit is transmitted over TLS 1.2+ to our Australian servers and stored encrypted at rest. Each entry is associated only with your authenticated account. Full details in our general Privacy Policy.
How to revoke access
- Open the Health app on your iPhone.
- Tap your profile picture (top right) → Privacy → Apps and Services.
- Select Phoenix Health.
- Toggle off any data type you no longer want shared, or tap Turn Off All to revoke completely.
You can also delete all data Phoenix has previously imported via the Data Deletion page or in-app at Profile → Settings → Data & Privacy.
